Millions of Australian households can currently use compostable bin bags as part of their council green bin program. This gives them a clean, hygienic and environmentally friendly way to collect food scraps. The Victorian Department of Environment wants to ban these bags even though the data proves that compostable bags:

• Increase composting
• Reduce plastic waste
• Reduce landfill
• Reduce green house gases
• Reduce costs for councils
